Island gets behind UK campaign to save water

Several landmark local buildings were lit up in blue on Thursday night (23 October) to support a UK campaign aimed at raising awareness about saving water.

Mont Orgueil Castle, Fort Regent and St Helier’s Town Hall all marked Water Night, the national initiative which asked people to turn off their taps between 17:00 and 22:00. Run by water efficiency experts, Waterwise, regions across the UK took part.

We reached out to all our customers to ask them to support the event. With reservoir levels much lower than we would like for this time of year at 59%, after a dry spring and hot summer, we are appealing all Islanders to do what they can to avoid wasting water. Despite recent rainfall, we will need it to be an exceptionally wet winter to replenish Island water stocks, so the Island doesn’t find itself in a precarious position next year.

A big thank you to all our customers who took part in Water Night and for also making efforts to save water where they can on a daily basis. It really is appreciated and will make a difference.
