Reservoir access update after Storm Goretti

Following the lifting of the Red Weather Warning this morning, our teams have been out across our reservoirs and sites assessing the damage after Storm Goretti.

Jersey experienced widespread storm damage overnight, and our reservoirs were not unaffected, with a number of trees coming down as a result of the severe weather.

Our teams have been working closely alongside Jersey Trees for Life to clear fallen trees and carry out essential safety checks to ensure our sites are safe for public use.

We’re pleased to confirm that Val de la Mare reservoir and the Arboretum is now open to the public.

At Queen’s Valley, further work is still needed to make the site secure following storm damage. As a result, we do not anticipate reopening Queen’s Valley until tomorrow afternoon (10 January) at the earliest. We will provide a further update as soon as it is safe to do so.

Visitors are advised to take extra care when accessing the reservoir, as there may still be debris along some pathways. We also encourage members of the public to report any fallen trees or damage they notice on our land.

We would like to thank the public for respecting the temporary closures and for their patience while these essential safety checks were carried out. The closures were a precautionary measure to protect visitors and allow our teams to complete assessments following the severe weather.
