We will be closing Queen’s Valley Reservoir and Val de la Mare Reservoir from Thursday afternoon (22 October) as a precaution ahead of Storm Austen.
The closures will remain in place until further notice to help keep our employees and Islanders safe. Once the storm has passed, our teams will assess both sites for any damage and make sure they are safe before reopening them.
Jersey Met is warning winds may reach Gale F8 to severe Gale F9 with gusts of 70 to 80 mph in the early hours of Friday (23 October).
We’re asking Islanders not to visit either reservoir while the closures are in place and to take extra care around exposed areas, trees and other outdoor locations that may be affected by the strong winds.
Signs will be displayed at both reservoirs to advise visitors of the closures.
