We are delighted to announce that Dr Sarah McMath is joining our Board of Directors as a non-executive director, from 1 May 2026.
Sarah brings extensive senior experience from the UK water sector with 30 years in a range of senior technical, operational and leadership roles. Her background is in water quality, safety and operational performance, which has given her a deep understanding of how high standards of water quality are delivered, regulated and assured in practice. She is currently the Chief Executive of MOSL, the market operator for the non‑household water retail market in England.
Alongside Sarah’s appointment, we are once again supporting the Government of Jersey’s I WILL female board apprentice programme. Roslyn Bullen-Bell, who is the Island’s Director of Midwifery and Nursing, will be observing and learning from our Board over the coming year.
Both these appointments aim to further strengthen our governance while also supporting local leadership capability. Our Chair Paul Masterton commented:
“When looking at the makeup and balance of our Board, we were very focused on what Jersey Water needs at this time. With extensive sector knowledge and experience, Sarah will add real value to our existing Board’s effective oversight and the strategic direction being set for the company. We are also delighted to once again be supporting the Government of Jersey’s Board Apprentice programme, helping to build a pipeline of board‑ready professionals locally, which can only benefit organisations on the Island.”
Joining Jersey Water’s Board of Directors, Sarah said:
“I am very pleased to be joining Jersey Water and working alongside the Board and executive team. I look forward to contributing my experience and perspective from the UK water sector to support continued robust governance and strategic oversight at a time of increasing complexity and challenge for the industry.”
On her Board apprenticeship placement, Roslyn commented:
“This experience will be invaluable for broadening my understanding and experience of governance and decision‑making outside of a health environment. Jersey Water plays a critical role in the Island’s infrastructure and I’m keen to gain insight into how the utility plans for resilience and long‑term performance for the Island it serves.”
Roslyn will be shadowing the Board from 1 April 2026 until 31 March 2027.
Sarah’s tenure as non-executive director starts on 1 May 2026, with official election to be voted on at Jersey Water’s annual general meeting in February 2027.
